Last week I wrote about my struggles of becoming a blogger. If you have not read that post, click here!
This week is about being a blogger, and what my blogging and day-to-day life look like. Plus, my favorite notebooks and writings tools.
So, pretty much I am writing and crafting new posts, and ideas every day.
It can be a little overwhelming on the amount of work one has to put into blogging. I knew there was a lot, but in the early stages, I had no idea.
I had been blogging for about 5 months, posting every other Wednesday, and my blog was getting nowhere fast.
I read that if you can make it through the first 6 months, then you will make it as a blogger. Another source said 12 months. So, if I made the first 6 months, I was halfway there.
But I knew I needed to push my blog farther.
I decided to join the world of Instagram in October, hoping that might boost something. Then I decided to step my blog up in January and post twice a week. There was no giant spike in numbers right away, I really didn’t think that 6 months mark was a “magic” number. I was wrong.
By the end of January, my numbers spiked on Instagram, and suddenly people besides my family and friends were reading my posts! It was so exciting! With this sudden spike, posting twice a week, and running an Instagram and Facebook page, came more work. Work that I was looking forward to.
At first, it was a little overwhelming. So, I made list after list of what I needed to do and how.
And slowly, I got organized and ready to become a better blogger.
One of the first things I did was to set a daily schedule for both social media and blogging.
Plus, I have my own daily schedule.
Every day I do something different to keep up with my social media pages, blogging life and normal life.
And I know that this is hardly anything compared to other bloggers and people, but this is just my small beginning.
Every writer gets writer’s block now and then. I remember a couple of months ago I needed to have something written, my deadline was days away and I had zilch. I was staring at a blank page with an equally blank mind. Not wanting to go through that again, I found these gems and I love them!
300 writing prompts, is so much fun. The title pretty much explains it. Inside there are 300 writing prompts, some are funny, some are thoughtful and others just make you think outside the box.
Then my next favorite is this set
This has tons of different inspiration prompts and quotes that go with them. Similar to the 300, I pair it with this notebook where I write the prompt and my response.
And then there is this unique book.
The whole point of this book is honesty. This is one that really makes you think deeply, pushes your limits, reflect on your past, present and future. The whole book is about you.
Another one I love is My Top 10. While it’s not a writing prompt or even a deep thinker. It is a really fun book of Top 10 Lists.
It has over 350 subjects of everything you could imagine. Just a really fun book to fill your favorites with.
As you may have figured out, I love notebooks. I will create any excuse to get a new notebook. I even created my own, which I call The Notebook.
. It has everything from daily to-dos, inspiration, word help, blogging stuff, quotes, and everything in between. Plus, each section is filled with notebook paper for anything that comes to mind.
Between all this, I won’t have much of an excuse not to know what to write about if I am stuck.
So, when I am not writing in notebooks or creating new blog posts, I am trying to finish a book I’ve been writing for almost 3 years. I am hoping to self-publish by spring, which is something I am really looking forward to.
Another big part of my life is music. I am Music Director at my church, and I play the piano every Sunday.
So, I am practicing every day, and preparing new music for each Sunday. Plus, I am part of a small music group at my church and we play often.
That’s just a small part of my life. Everyone’s life is made up of tons of little things that make them who they are. That is what make’s everyone unique in their own way. I am unique, just like everyone else.
