Right now we are living in a gloomy, upset world. Everyone is finding fault or finding something to fear.
It can get to a person, hearing all the depressing news, and seeing everything close down.
I was upset when I heard about the panic and the closings, it began to get to me, and I began to have “off” days.
Off days are times when something doesn’t feel right, something is a little bit off the normal scale.
And it became hard to focus on things.
I have those days, days I usually don’t get anything done. By the end of the day I know I’ve accomplished nothing, I don’t like that feeling. I want to end each day with a positive feeling.
Off days usually have a prompt or a reason that those days happen. Right now, it could be the condition of the nation, or something related to the crazy world.
Either way, it sometimes boils down to the fact that something is weighing on your mind.
When I have something weighing heavy on my mind, I can’t focus on anything else. I want the matter resolved when something is “off” I want it fixed, now.
And sometimes it can’t be fixed right away, so why dwell on it? I can put my mind at ease with a Bible verse and a stern talking to with myself to get over it. It can’t be fixed today, so let it go.
Sometimes it helps. It’s pretty hard for me to let go and just go with the flow, but when I do, oh the peace that surpasses all understanding!
While we can battle with unnecessary thoughts taking over our mind, there is another prompt for off days.
The feeling of “blah”. Monday’s can bring on the blahs, especially when it’s dreary outside or cold.
Wisconsin winter’s can test even the strongest person. There have been days that go by and you never see the sun. It’s usually snowing or cloudy and bitter cold.
That can bring me down. So, on those blah days, for me, the worst I can do to myself is make myself doing something I don’t want to do. Because I am in that blah mood.
And that is going to take me from blah to cranky. So, I tend to do what I love, things that make me happy or that are easy.
It may not be productive, but it will be easy on the mind. When you feel blah or off it may be an indication that your mind needs a break, so give it one by doing something easy and fun.
For me, I like to blast my favorite music, read, journal, or write in something fun.
And sometimes I do something mindless and color. Coloring is very relaxing and can let your mind be free for a while.
There is a lot of negativity around right now, people are excepting the worst, when it may not be that bad.
We can let people’s emotions get to us. I found a quote and I love how much it fits the situation right now.
Don’t let your ship go down, be courageous and keep rowing to the better days ahead. They will be there; you just have to keep hoping and have faith.
So, the next time you have the Monday blues, or feel the negativity geting to you, don’t lose heart!
